Abstract:
A dumbbell apparatus is adapted with a series of weight plates(30), the number of which can be safely and reliably adjusted with a single simple motion by resiliently depressing and sliding an adjustment button to select the desired weight. The apparatus includes a cradle(40) for storing and deploying the apparatus, weight plates(30), and a handle apparatus which has two spline bolts(23,24) which support the weight plates(30) and are used to simultaneously be adjusted by means of an adjusting pin(27) which moves the spline members(23,24) together through a motion transmitting gear(73). The apparatus may be further enhanced with permanent weights and gripping options.
