Title:
DUNALIELLA VARIANT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING PIGMENT BY USING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/209510
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel algae having an improved pigment productivity. A variant according to the present invention can be used to produce carotenoid-based pigments, particularly, xanthophyll with small energy, and thus can effectively produce pigment on an industrial level. In addition, the present invention can be applied as a raw material for foods, health functional foods, and medications which contain pigment. Further, when account is taken of the physiological characteristics of the euryhaline microalgae Dunaliella and the geological characteristics of Korea, the three sides of which are in contact with the sea, seawater can be used as a culture medium, with the expectation of reducing the cost and leading to the development of related industries
