Abstract:
An air cleaner (10) has in its casing (20) a prefilter unit (30), a flocculation
unit (70), and a collection unit (50). Air to be treated, from which large-sized
dust and dirt are removed by the prefilter (31), flows into the flocculation unit
(70). In the flocculation unit (70), fine airborne particles in the air to be
treated are captured by a dust collection electrode, and the airborne particles
flocculate on the dust collecting electrode to become flocculated particles.
When the flocculated particles grow to a certain size, they are separated from
the dust collection electrode and dispersed in the air to be treated. In the dust
collecting unit (50) disposed on the downstream side of the flocculation unit
(70), the flocculated particles in the air to be treated are captured by a dust
collection filter (51). The flocculated particles collected by the dust collection
filter are removed from the filter (51) by a second cleaning unit (60).
