Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to develop a purification method for a dye composition for hair dyeing comprising an azo dye as the main component thereof in order to ensure that said dye composition tests negative in the Ames test, and to apply the purification method during production of the dye composition in order to provide a dye composition that shows a negative result in the Ames test. Impurities that cause a positive result in the Ames test were identified from among impurities contained in the azo dye that is included in the dye composition for hair dyeing comprising an azo dye as the main component thereof, the purification method was reviewed with the goal of removing the aforementioned impurities, and as a result of using a specific method to carry out purification, the dye composition for hair dyeing comprising an azo dye as the main component thereof was found to show a negative result in the Ames test.
