Abstract:
Disclosed is a dye-sensitized solar cell comprising a first base, a porous insulating layer and a second base. The first base has a light-transmitting first substrate, a light-transmitting conductive layer formed on a surface of the first substrate, a first semiconductor electrode having a sensitizing dye which is formed on a surface of the light-transmitting conductive layer, a second semiconductor electrode having a sensitizing dye which is so arranged that one side thereof is opposite to the first semiconductor electrode, a first collector electrode arranged on the other side of the second semiconductor electrode, and an electrolyte layer interposed between the first semiconductor electrode and the second semiconductor electrode. The porous insulating layer is arranged in contact with the second semiconductor electrode and the first collector electrode, or in contact only with the first collector electrode. The second base has a second substrate and a catalyst layer formed on a surface of the second substrate, and is so arranged that the catalyst layer is opposite to the porous insulating layer. Since this dye-sensitized solar cell has two semiconductor electrodes, the incident light can be highly efficiently utilized, thereby improving the photoelectric conversion efficiency.
