Abstract:
The present invention provides a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server management method and apparatus. In the method, a DHCP relay sends a request packet of a DHCP client to a first DHCP server according to a forwarding policy; in a preset period of time and/or within the preset number of times of forwarding, if the DHCP relay has not received a response packet of the request packet from the first DHCP server, the DHCP relay performs switching from the first DHCP server to a second DHCP server according to the forwarding policy; and in the preset period of time and/or within the preset number of times of forwarding, if the DHCP relay has not received the response packet of the request packet from the first DHCP server, the DHCP relay sends alarm information to a network management system, the alarm information indicating that the first DHCP server is unavailable. Therefore, the problem of failure in acquisition of an IP address by using the DHCP is resolved, and maintainability and error correction performance of a system are improved.
