Abstract:
At least one inclined groove is vertically extended through a contact face, on
which a grinding stone and a workpiece contact with each other, so that a dynamic
pressure to rise in a grinding liquid fed toward the contact face is released to
enhance the working precision of the workpiece and to improve the polishing efficiency.
In the grinding operation to grind the workpiece while feeding the grinding
liquid to the contact faces, on which the grinding face of the grinding stone and
the workpiece contact, the point of intersection between the inclined groove
formed in the grinding face and the extension of one edge parallel to the grinding
stone circumferential direction of the contact face is defined as one intersection
point, and the point of intersection between that inclined groove and the intersection
of the extension of the other edge is defined as the other intersection point.
With these definitions, the other intersection point of one inclined groove
and the one intersection point of the inclined groove adjoining the one inclined
groove overlap each other in the grinding stone circumferential direction by
a predetermined overlap, and the length of the contact face in the grinding stone
circumferential direction is made smaller than that overlap.
