This dynamo-electric machine can be cooled by causing a refrigerant to flow along an outer periphery. The dynamo-electric machine has: a stator; a housing which is formed circular-cylindrically and which contains the stator on the inner periphery side thereof, the housing having a flow passage groove formed recessed in the circumferential direction in the outer periphery thereof, the housing also having a tubular first protrusion and a tubular second protrusion, which face each other in the axial direction on the outer periphery with the flow passage groove located therebetween and which protrude in the radial direction; a cover for covering the outer periphery of the housing and in contact with the first protrusion and the second protrusion; and a partition plate provided between the first protrusion and the second protrusion and dividing the flow passage groove in the axial direction. The first protrusion is formed higher than the second protrusion in the radial direction. The partition plate is formed so that the end of the partition plate, which faces the first protrusion, is higher in the radial direction than the end of the partition plate, which faces the second protrusion. The cover is formed so that the inner diameter of the portion of the cover, which is in contact with the first protrusion, is greater than the inner diameter of the portion of the cover, which is in contact with the second protrusion.
