Abstract:

An edge replaceable ball end mill configured so that first to third inserts having circular arc-shaped cutting edges are respectively removably mounted, by means of first to third screws, to first to third mounding seats provided at the hemispherical tip of a tool body. A first screw hole for the first screw obliquely penetrates through the first mounting seat having a slit shape. The first insert has a hole tilted so as to avoid the interference between the first screw and the second and third screws. At least a part of the hole of the first insert and at least a part of the first screw have finished surfaces, and this configuration allows, when the first screw penetrates through the first insert mounted on the first mounting seat, the first insert to be accurately positioned by the close engagement between both the finished surfaces.
