Abstract:
A cutting tool enhanced in machining precision, product precision and machining performance, wherein a slit is provided in the tip end of a holder so as to pass the center thereof and a chip having edges symmetrical with respect to the center of rotation is inserted in the slit. Forwardly slanted restriction surfaces (8) crossing each other at a position, retracted a distance equivalent to 1/3 to 2/3 of the chip width from the tool tip end, are provided at the tip end of a flange (3) of a holder (1) so as to be symmetrical with respect to the center of rotation, and the restriction surfaces (8) are used to restrict a backward-directed surface to be restricted (9) provided in the middle of the longitudinal length of a chip (5) to thereby shorten the distance from a cutting edge (6) to a restriction point, whereby the deflection of the chip is not likely to occur, a displacement of the cutting edge by deflection is reduced, and a chip pocket can be increased in size.
