Description:
Edging for distribution water and/or electric systems

Field of the invention This invention relates to an edging for distribution water and/or electric systems, especially edging used in gardens, especially garden edging used for separating garden space.

State of the art Solutions such as borders, plastic, wooden, stone or concrete palisades available on the market right noware well known methods for separating various types of surfaces in gardens, e.g. grass from stones, grass from pinecones, grass from hardened surfaces, etc.

The mentioned solutions are also known to be used in the distribution of electric systems including lighting as well as water systems. This makes the manufacturing of water systems, sprinkler systems or lighting systems a lot easier and faster than the methods involving separate distribution and digging of furrows for cables and water. After years it is known where everything is located which makes it easier to repair any possible damage caused during use and reduced the likelihood of accidental damage to the installation which might occur during any gardening work.

The European patent application EP1414124A2 discloses a distribution channel for water and electricity, however it can also be used for limiting the lawns area. The mentioned channel contains modules which can be connected with latches. The upper module is equipped with sockets in the form of round holes for mounting, for example, LED strips or a spray hose. The middle module is in the form of a V-shaped profile containing spaces designated for placing water and electric lines in them. And the bottom module is in the form of a wedge-shaped ground anchor. The French patent application FR2828374A1 discloses a structure consisting detachable elements - modules - used for restricting two areas. The middle module of the described structure is in the form of a hollow profile containing spaces for lining electric cables or glowing garlands. Furthermore, the upper module in the form of irrigation agents containing an extended supporting element equipped with a socket for mounting spray hoses. The bottom module is in the form of a metal strip for embedding in the ground.

The U.S. patent application US6021599A discloses a garden edging system containing watering and lighting elements. The said system may consist of middle, upper and lower modules which are connected to each other with latches. The middle module is in the form of a basket for water tracts, and the upper module contains sockets for mounting sprinklers or lighting. The lower module, in turn, has the form of a wedge for embedding in the ground.

In order to modify the shape of the edging, e.g. making arches, it is usually necessary to make additional cuts in the edging elements which considerably reduces the durability of the structure of such edgings and significantly hinders the formation of the shape of the decorative curb.

The purpose of the invention was to create modular edgings for the distribution of water and/or electric systems allowing for easy creation of curved lines in order to allow any and different design of the garden spaces.

The essence of the Invention

Edging for distribution of water and/or electric systems, especially a garden edging, comprising the following detachably connected elements: body in the shape of an extended profile comprising arms of the body symmetrically arranged along the vertical axis of the edging and defining the space intended for placing a water and/or electrical system as well as the base of the edging allowing for the edging to be placed in the ground, preferably soil, according to the invention, characterized in that the body is made of plastic and comprises the base of the body on which the arms are placed as well as at least one bottom connecting element for connecting the body with the base of the edging, whereas the base of the body is made of plastic that has greater flexibility than the arms of the body.

Making the base of the body from flexible material with flexibility greater than that of the arms of the body allows for making arches from the edgings without the necessity to make cuts, especially within the area of latches, which results in easier formation of the shape of the decorative curb and increases the durability of the edging.

Preferably, the body of the edging is made by co-extrusion, which significantly simplifies the manufacturing process of this element and makes the combination of the elements, which are made of different materials, a lot more durable.

Preferably, the edging comprises an edging cover for mounting sprinkling and/or lighting means detachably connected to the body, which is made of polymers capable of flexible deformation, preferably biopolymers.

Preferably, the base of the body is made of polymers capable of flexible deformation, even more preferably, biopolymers.

Preferably, the base of the body and/or the cover of the edging are made of modified polyvinyl chloride, preferably the polyvinyl chloride is modified with an impact modifier, preferably in the form of chlorinated polyethylene.

Preferably, the arms of the body have incisions made in such a way that the arms take the form of ribs, which increases the possibility of bending the edging (reduction of the arch radius) and allows for making a curvature in the garden, not only horizontally, but also vertically, thus allowing for a smooth transition between areas with different levels (heights). Preferably, the base of the edging in the upper part comprises symmetrically arranged arms being a support for the body and connecting elements placed at the distal ends of the arms, while the arms of the body contain on their distal ends upped connecting elements for connecting the body with the cover of the edging, whereas the height of the base Of the edging is chosen so that it can be placed within the space of the body in such a way that once the base has been placed within the space of the body, the upper connecting elements of the body along with the connecting elements of the base of the edging form a shaped connection. Modularity and height adjustment of the base of the edging allowing for its placement within the space of the body, in such a way that the upper connecting elements of the body are connected with the connecting elements of the base, allow for stiffening the edging during transport and storage, which simultaneously prevents the arms of the body from being deformed. Furthermore, it ensures optimization of space during transport and storage, which leads to savings of approximately 40% of transport and storage costs.

Preferably, the body contains protrusions for supporting the body on the base arms which restrict play and hesitation of the body after it's been connected with the base of the edging, which makes it easier to maintain the vertical position of the edging elements.

Preferably, the base of the edging in its bottom part comprises at least two protrusions allowing for anchoring in the ground, preferably V-shaped.

Preferably, the base of the edging extends over the entire length of the body forming a lasting and solid protection against any rooting weeds. Alternatively, the base is preferably in the form of at least two pins mounted at predetermined distances from one another, but preferably the distance between individual pins is no greater than 5 cm. In case an adult person stands on the edging, a greater distance between individual pins may cause deformation of the unsupported part of the body connected with the cover of the edging, and as a result, uncontrolled disconnection of the body from the cover of the edging.

Preferably, , the edging according to the invention further comprises lifting elements detachably connected with the body and the cover of the edging.

Preferably, the edging comprises at least one socket for mounting lighting and/or sprinkling elements. Preferably, the cover of the edging comprises a side wall extended towards the base of the edging, which simplifies the assembly of the edging on the connection of soft surfaces with hardened surfaces, e.g. cobblestones or stone blocks. It also allows for the separation of surfaces of different levels. Preferably, the edging comprises at least one body closing element which is a lateral closure of the inner space of the body, stabilizing the edging and acting as a block against sliding of the base of the edging out of the body.

Preferably, the body closing element includes break lines which allow for breaking off a part of the element which, for example, allows for wires to be inserted into the interior space of the body.

Furthermore, preferably the connections of body - base and body - cover are in the form of shaped connections, especially latches.

In the preferred embodiment of the invention the connecting elements placed on the arms of the base of the edging are adapted for direct connection of the base of the edging with the cover of the edging using the second connection elements of the cover of the edging. The edging for distribution water and/or electrical systems according to the invention allows for easy formation of curved lines, which considerably simplifies any and different designs of garden spaces without the necessity to interfere in the construction of individual parts (modules) of the edging, which positively affects the durability of the edging structure.

The garden edging according to the invention ensures versatility in using the product when using serially manufactures products, which allows for shortening the time of its installation with additional installations such as electrical or water installations. The modularity of the edging according to the invention allows users to expand the system and replace its elements in the event of damage.

In the garden edging according to the invention, garden cables and hoses can be used along with fittings available on the market, and in the sockets placed in the cover of the edging spraying tapes and linear LED lighting can be installed.

The edging according to the invention also allows for easy and quick installation of sprinkling and/or lighting devices or not, as required. At the same time the element placed underground acts as a barrier for rooting weeds. The subject of the invention is illustrated in the embodiment in the drawing, where:

Embodiments

Embodiment 1

Garden edging 1 for distribution water and/or electric systems comprises a body 2 in the form of an extended profile containing symmetrically arranged, along the vertical axis of the edging 1 arms of the body 3 defining space 4 intended for placing a water and/or electric system connected detachably with the base of the edging 5 allowing for the placement of the edging 1 in the ground, e.g., soil. The edging 1 also comprises the cover of the edging 6 connected detachably with the body 2 and equipped with a socket 7 for mounting lighting and/or sprinkling elements, especially the flexible ones (Fig. 1A and Fig. 5A).

The body 2 comprises the base of the body 8 with the arms of the body 3 placed on it and facing away from the base of the edging 5. The base of the body 8 comprises a bottom connecting element 9 for connecting the body 2 with the central connecting element 10 of the base of the edging. The connecting element 9 is placed on the side of the base of the body 8 opposite the side with the arms of the body 3. The arms of the body 3 comprise on their distal ends upper connecting elements 11 used for connecting the body 2 with the first connecting elements 12 of the cover of the edging 6. The base of the body comprises protrusions 13 for supporting the base of the edging 5 on the arms 14. The base of the edging 5 extends over the entire length of the body 2 and has four protrusions

15 in its bottom part arranged in a V-shape making anchoring in the ground easier. The base of the edging 5 in its upper part comprises symmetrically arranged arms 14 forming a support for the body 2 and connecting elements 16 placed on the distal ends of the arms 14. The height of the base of the edging 5 allows for its placement within the space 4 of the body 2 in such a way that once the base of the edging 5 has been placed within the space 4 of the body 2, the upper connecting elements 11 of the body 2 form a shaped connection with the connecting elements 16 of the base of the edging 5.

The body 2 is made by co-extrusion, whereas the arms of the body are made of polyvinyl chloride, and the base of the body 8 is made of a material of greater flexibility. In this embodiment, the base of the body 8 is made of polyvinyl chloride modified with chlorinated polyethylene. Alternatively, e.g. polyvinyl chloride modified with other impact modifiers, like ABS (acrylonitrile / butadiene / styrene), E/VAC copolymer (ethylene / vinyl acetate), acrylic polymers, MBS (methyl methacrylate / butadiene / styrene) can also be used. The elements of the body 2 can also be made of biopolymers, but the material for making the base of the body 8 must be able to be deformed flexibly. The cover of the edging 6 is made of polyvinyl chloride modified with chlorinated polyethylene (CPE). Alternatively, e.g. polyvinyl chloride modified with other impact modifiers, e.g. ABS (acrylonitrile / butadiene / styrene), E/VAC (ethylene / vinyl acetate), acrylic polymers, MBS (methyl methacrylate / butadiene / styrene) can also be used. The covers of the edging 6 can also be made of biopolymers which are able to be deformed flexibly.

The cover of the edging 6 preferably has the maximum height of 25 millimeters to allow for a safe passage of a lawnmower. The edging, according to this embodiment, is used e.g. for separating surfaces with similar heights.

The connections of the body 2 with the base of the edging 5 and the body 2 with the cover of the edging 6 are shaped connections in the form of latches. In this embodiment, the connecting elements 16 placed on the arms 14 of the base of the edging 5 are also adapted to a direct connection of the base of the edging 5 with the cover of the edging 6 via the second connecting elements 16 of the cover of the edging 6. This configuration of the connecting elements placed on the arms of the cover of the edging 5, makes it possible to:

- connect the base of the edging 5 directly with one cover of the edging 6; - directly connect the base of the edging 5 with two covers of the edging 6;

- install the edging 1 in special flowers stands;

- install the edging 1 in stands allowing for vertical cultivation of plants (e.g. on walls).

The edging 1 also comprises elements 17 for closing the body 2, which are placed on the ends of the body 2, whereas these elements 17 contain break lines 18 which allow for breaking off a part of the element 17.

The individual bodies 2 and the bases of the edging 5 are arranged in a line (end to end), and then connected with the use of covers 6, which are overlap mounted.

Preferably, the connecting elements 16 placed on the arms 14 of the base of the edging 5 have construction gaps allowing for connection to one or two covers of the edging 6 at various angles relative to the ground level, which allows for adjustment of the angle of incidence of lighting or sprinkling.

Embodiment 2

The edging is just like in Embodiment 1, but the arms of the body 5 have incisions 19 arranged in such a way that the arms of the body 5 are in the shape of ribs 20 (Fig. 3). Making the body 2 with the arms of the body 5 in the form of ribs 20 increases the option to deform the edging

1 (reducing the arch radius) and allows for making a curvature in the garden not only horizontally but also vertically, thus providing a smooth passage between areas of different levels (heights). Embodiment 3

The edging is just like in Embodiments 1 or 2, but the base of the edging 5 is in the form of pins mounted at the distance of 5 cm from each other. Mounting the pins at this distance prevents any deflections of the unsupported part of the body 2 when/for example, an adult person stands of the edging, and in consequence there is no uncontrolled detachment of the body 2 from the cover of the edging 6.

Embodiment 4

The edging is just like in Embodiments 1, 2, or 3, but the cover of the edging 6 comprises a side wall 21 extended towards the base of the edging 5, which allows for separating areas on different levels. This kind of edging is used especially with hardened surfaces, e.g. cobblestone or stone blocks. Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the cover of the edging 6 comprises sockets 7 for mounting lighting elements and/or sprinkling elements, especially flexible ones (Fig. IB and Fig 5B).

Embodiment 5 The edging, according to any of the above embodiments comprising lifting elements 22 detachably connected with the body 2 and the cover of the edging (Fig 7).
