Title:
AN EFFERVESCENT TABLET AS AN ABSORBENT OF TOXIC SUBSTANCES IN HOOKAH SMOKES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/170017
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention filters wide range of toxins and chemicals in hookah smoke such as nitrogenous and carcinogenic compounds, amine compounds, and heavy metals. This invention is available in tablet form and the smoker drops the effervescent tablet in the hookah water bowl. The tablet is activated in the presence of water and dissolves its compounds in the bowl water. Then, when smoke is flowing from the water, nicotine and limonene (the main bases of the taste in the fruit hookahs) are only allowed to pass through and the rest of the compounds are absorbed by the dissolved materials in the bowl water.

Description:
AN EFFERVESCENT TABLET AS AN ABSORBENT OF TOXIC

SUBSTANCES IN HOOKAH SMOKES

Technical Field

[0001 ] The technical field of this invention relates to filters used in tobacco smoking.

Background Art

[0002] ADDITIVE TO FILTERING LIQUID FOR A HOOKAH AND METHOD FOR

PRODUCING A LIQUID FILTER, WO/2011/071462, the invention relates to a method for producing a liquid filter and an additive to filtering liquid for a hookah. The invention is intended for creating means for reducing the risk of illness caused by active and passive hookah smokers breathing in tobacco smoke.

[0003] The additive to the filtering liquid for a hookah comprises complexone and/or products containing pectin and/or cellulose. In the method for producing a liquid filter for a hookah, complexone and/or products containing pectin and/or cellulose are introduced into the filtering liquid. As the pectin-containing products, the additive comprises beet pulp and/or citrus and/or pomaceous waste. As the cellulose-containing products, the additive comprises products of the wood processing and paper industry, which contain cellulose and/or beet pulp and/or citrus and/or pomaceous waste, and/or other products containing cellulose. As the complexone, the additive comprises pectin and/or unitiol and/or Trilon B.

[0004] The method, the ingredients and the results of using this invention are

completely different from the claimed invention.

Technical Problem

[0005] Smoking is common in many countries. Pyridine is one of the most important chemicals in tobacco samples in many countries and as gonads have high concentrations of pyridine, hence it causes sterilization and interruption in gonads.

[0006] Additionally, a smoker who smokes hookah is not interested in filtering

nicotine contained in smoke, which leads to pleasure and sense of euphoria while smoking hookah, as nicotine serves as the main factor for hookah addiction. The present filters somehow filter flavor (essence) hookah tobacco and all types of tobacco have a specific taste and odor.

[0007] Also, the traditional smoking filters are often solid, and they are difficultly

attached to the hookah as an external object. Most importantly, these solid filters have an impact on the amount of exhausted smoke and the smoker has to inhales with increased pressure and this in turns causes more damage to the lung (the lack of pleasure on hookah smoking).

Solution to Problem

[0008] The present invention filters wide range of toxins and chemicals in hookah smoke such as nitrogenous and carcinogenic compounds, amine compounds, and heavy metals. This invention is available in tablet form and the smoker drops the effervescent tablet in the hookah water bowl. The tablet is activated in the presence of water and dissolves its compounds in the bowl water.

[0009] Then, when smoke is flowing from the water, nicotine and limonene (the main bases of the taste in the fruit hookahs) are only allowed to pass through and the rest of the compounds are absorbed by the dissolved materials in the bowl water.

[0010] Effervescent tablet ingredients:

[0011 ] The effervescent tablet is made up of the following ingredients:

• Sodium carbonate

• Sodium Bicarbonate,

• Citric acid,

• Ascorbic acid,

• Titanium dioxide nanoparticles

• Cationic surfactant

[0012] The chemical formula for Effervescent tablet ingredients:

[0013] About 5 gr fizzy tablet, contains:

• Na2CC>3 1.5 gr

• NaHCC>3 1.5 gr

• ΰqHdOz 1.5 gr

• CTAB 0.09 gr • T1O2 0.6 gr

• OqHdOb 0.40 gr

[0014] Process 1 : The process of tablets dissolution:

[0015] (A) Citric Acid reaction with Sodium Bicarbonate

[0016] (B) Citric Acid reaction with Sodium Carbonate

[0017] In this section, tablet ingredients which are main responsible for tablet

dissolution within water bowl (in presence of water) are presented with chemical formula.

[0018] (A)

C6H807 + Na2C03 > H20 + C02 + Na3C6H507

[0019] (B)

C6H807 + 3NaHC03 > 3H20 + 2C02 + Na3C6H507

[0020] Process 2: The process of absorbing additional metals in hookah smoke (Fig.

2):

[0021 ] (A) Molecular structure of Ascorbic acid (C6H8O6)

[0022] (B) Complexion by two ascorbic acid molecules with metal (M)

[0023] Process 3: The process of absorbing other metals (Fig. 3):

[0024] (A) Functionalizing Nanoparticle Titanium Dioxide with a Cationic Surfactant (CTAB

[0025] (B) Absorption of toxins by Ti02-CTAB

Brief Description of Drawings

[0026] Fig. 1 the results from the mass detector before and after using an

effervescent tablet.

[0027] Fig 2 the process of absorbing toxic metals in hookah smoke.

Detail Description of Drawings

[0028] As it is illustrated in Fig. 1 , a liquid chromatography with mass detector shows graph of injecting smoke from the hookah, before (1 ) and after (2) using the invention (effervescent tablet). The toxic substances in the hookah smoke are absorbed after the filtration, and only nicotine and tobacco flavor or essence remain in the hookah smoke.

[0029] 1 - All chemical compounds in Hookah's smoke without filtration.

[0030] 2- In the presence of Hookah's filter.

[0031 ] Fig. 2, indicates the formulation and chemical process of heavy metals absorption and the formation of the complex by ascorbic acid, and finally, as it can be seen at bottom of Fig (heterocyclic and amine toxin receptor), the presence of a combination of Nano-titanium dioxide with CTAB has resulted in the formation of charged long-chain and cationic micelles for trapping harmful heterocyclic and amino, which eventually eliminated them with a high-speed synthetic reaction in water bowl.

Advantageous Effects of Invention

[0032] 1. Removing the most toxic substances and chemicals in tobacco

[0033] 2. It is not necessary to attach an external device to hookah

[0034] 3. Filtration without removing nicotine and tobacco taste

[0035] 4. Hookah smoking method is not changed.

A method for applying the invention

[0036] In order to remove most toxic compounds of hookah tobacco, the smoker needs to drop the tablet in bowl water and then smokes without any additional tools. This method only allows passing nicotine in the tobacco and other compounds to be filtered.
