Abstract:
The present invention relates to a broadband wireless access system, and more particularly, to a handover method that can reduce a stop time in an entry before a break-type handover for performing more efficient handover, and to an apparatus for performing same. A handover method for a terminal in a broadband wireless access system according to one embodiment of the present invention may include: receiving, from a serving base station, a handover command message including the information of a section in which scheduling for the terminal is not performed; transmitting a ranging code to a target base station during the section; and receiving information indicating the transmitted result of the ranging code from the serving base station.
