Abstract:
The magnetic circuit has an air gap (83) on the interior of the bobbin mounted coil (44). A non-ferromagnetic cylindrical sleeve (56) lines the interior of the coil. The armature (68) is disposed within the sleeve (56) and has a cylindrical wall (70) with an axial taper proximate the air gap (83). The sleeve (56) extends to seal against a bushing (38) that guides a portion of the valve member (22) between the solenoid (28) and the valve head (24) so that any exhaust gases that infiltrate through the bushing (38) to the solenoid (28) are confined within the sleeve.
