Disclosed is an elastic tensioning rope band for a tarpaulin for vehicles and ships, wherein the elastic tensioning rope band comprises a rope band (1), and further comprises an elastic rope band (2) and a tensioning device (3); and the rope band (1), the elastic rope band (2) and the tensioning device (3) are integrally connected to constitute the elastic tensioning rope band. An annular enclosed buckle hole is provided at an end portion of each of the rope band (1) and the elastic rope band (2). The tensioning device (3) comprises a tensioning back stop device (301), which is a cavity provided with a flat slit; and two shafts are provided in the cavity, and an inner wall of an end of the cavity is provided with a barb, and the other end is provided with a connection hole. The rope band further comprises three rope bands, one elastic rope band, one tensioning device and two metal sheets in the shape of the Chinese character "回". The elastic rope bands and the tensioning devices can be naturally tensioned along with the deformation and collapse of cargo, thereby preventing the cargo from being damaged by rainwater and being scattered due to the loosening of the tarpaulin.
