Disclosed is an elastic warp knitted fabric which exhibits so excellent elongation characteristics and elongation recovery characteristics that the elastic warp knitted fabric feels good to wear, has excellent movement-following characteristics, thereby contributing to improvement in movement functions, has no limit in use application due to the elongation force thereof, and can be used as the material of a garment less likely to lose the shape due to wearing. The elastic warp knitted fabric is characteristic in that the elastic warp knitted fabric is obtained by knitting at least two reeds, at least one of the reeds having elastic fibers arranged thereon and the other reeds having nonelastic fibers arranged thereon. The elastic warp knitted fabric is further characteristic in that in elongation by 80% of the knitted fabric, both an elongation force in the warp direction and that in the weft direction are 100cN to 600cN, that the ratio of the elongation force in the warp direction to that in the weft direction is 0.8 to 1.8, and that both elongation recovery percentage in the warp direction and that in the weft direction after elongation and recovery by 80% are repeated three times are 85% or more.
