Abstract:
Provided is an elastic wave device in which transverse modes can be effectively suppressed. This elastic wave device is provided with a piezoelectric substrate 2 in which a reciprocal-velocity surface is protuberant, and an IDT electrode 7 provided on the piezoelectric substrate 2. A portion where first electrode fingers 14 and second electrode fingers 16 of the IDT electrode 7 overlap each other in a first direction X is a crossing region A, where the first direction X is the direction of elastic wave propagation, and a second direction Y is a direction orthogonal to the first direction X. The crossing region A is composed of a central region B positioned toward the center in the second direction Y, and a first edge region Ca and a second edge region Cb disposed at two ends of the central region B. A recessed part 17 and a recessed part 18 are respectively positioned in the first edge region Ca and the second edge region Cb, the recessed parts 17, 18 being provided to portions of the piezoelectric substrate 2 that are between a portion where a plurality of the first electrode fingers 14 are provided and a portion where a plurality of the second electrode fingers 16 are provided.
