Abstract:
The present invention reduces unwanted waves. An elastic wave device according to the present invention is provided with: a supporting substrate; a piezoelectric layer 2 which contains lithium niobate or lithium tantalate, while having two main surfaces in a first direction that is the thickness direction of the supporting substrate; an energy confinement layer which is provided between the supporting substrate and the piezoelectric layer 2; and a first IDT electrode which is formed on one of the two main surfaces of the piezoelectric layer 2, while comprising a first bus bar, a second bus bar, a plurality of first electrode fingers, and a plurality of second electrode fingers. At least a part of the first IDT electrode is provided in a region that at least partially overlaps with the energy confinement layer when viewed in plan in the first direction. If d is the thickness of the piezoelectric layer 2, and p is the center-to-center spacing of adjacent electrode fingers, d/p is 0.5 or less. The plurality of electrode fingers are arranged so as to have a crossover region where the electrode fingers overlap with each other when viewed from the direction in which the electrode fingers are arranged; and there is a space between at least a part of at least one electrode finger and the piezoelectric layer 2 in the crossover region.
