Abstract:
Provided is an electret having excellent oil repellency, resistance to oil mist, charge stability, and collection efficiency after heat treatment, it being possible to manufacture the electret using an inexpensive and simple method. There is used an electret in which polytetrafluoroethylene is affixed to a carrier, the polytetrafluoroethylene having a melting point of 35 to 320℃ inclusive, wherein the electret is characterized in that electrostatic charging is applied to the carrier and/or the polytetrafluoroethylene, the electret having two or more melting peaks in simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. Also provided is a electret filter suitable for filter applications in which durability against tobacco smoke is required. There is used an electret filter having a fluorine-containing component supported on a fiber surface, wherein the electret filter is characterized in that, in regard to the efficiency of trapping particles of 0.3‒0.5 μm at a wind speed of 5 cm/s, the initial QF value is at least 0.5 mmAq‒1 and the rate of filter degradation by tobacco smoke load is at least ‒8/(g/m2).
