Abstract:
This electric assist system (51) comprises: a crank shaft (57) that rotates as a result of human power applied to a pedal (55) by an occupant; an electric motor (53) that generates auxiliary power that assists the human power of the occupant; a control device (70) that controls the magnitude of auxiliary power that the electric motor (53) is caused to generate; and an acceleration sensor (38) that outputs a signal corresponding to acceleration in the travel direction of an electric assist vehicle (1). The control device (70) changes the magnitude of the auxiliary power that the electric motor (53) generates, in accordance with change in acceleration linked to the pedal (55) pressing action of the passenger.
