Abstract:
A fail open mechanism of the present invention to be applied to disc brakes, which are an electric brake apparatus, is equipped with: a spring clutch which rotates a torque transmission member along with a spindle until the rotational resistance force relative to the spindle exceeds a prescribed value, and is positioned between the spindle and the torque transmission member; a fixed member configured so as to be incapable of rotation; and a torsion spring which stores elastic energy as a result of the relative rotation to the fixed member of the torque transmission member which accompanies spindle rotation, and has one end section thereof connected to the torque transmission member and the other end section thereof connected to the fixed member. As a result, it is possible to suppress a decline in the layout properties of disc brakes.
