Provided is an electric brake device which can be utilized in a vehicle compatible with a semi-autonomous traveling system. The electric brake device controls the driving of an electric motor according to a braking command from a vehicle control device, and generates a braking force by pressing a braking member provided to each wheel of the vehicle against a member to be braked that rotates integrally with each wheel of the vehicle. Each wheel is provided with an electric brake device, and from among those devices, the electric brake device provided to one wheel on the front wheel side comprises at least two brake control systems, each including an electric motor control circuit that controls the driving of the electric motor. If the brake control systems are operating normally, each electric motor control circuit drives the electric motor so as to generate, by the output of the at least two brake control systems, a braking force corresponding to the braking command. If at least one of the brake control systems fails and at least one remaining brake control system operates normally, the electric motor control circuits each drive the electric motor so as to generate a braking force corresponding to the braking command by the output of the at least one remaining brake control system that is operating normally.
