Abstract:
This electric brake device includes: an electric motor having a plurality of drive circuits; an electric mechanism for pressing a braking member against a braked member as a result of driving of the electric motor; and a control device for controlling the driving of the electric motor. The control device detects contact between the braking member and the braked member on the basis of a change in the current of the electric motor when a portion of the drive circuits among the plurality of drive circuits is energized. In other words, the amount of change in the current before and after the braking member and the braked member come into contact is larger in the case where a portion of the plurality of drive circuits is energized than in the case where all of the drive circuits are energized. Therefore, the point of change in the amount of current before and after the braking member and the braked member come into contact is easily detected, and the precision with which the contact position of the braking member relative to the braked member is detected can be improved.
