Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an electric compressor in which the axial dimension can be suppressed to reduce size, and there is more freedom in the position where an intake port is formed and in the layout of refrigerant channels. Also, to sufficiently cool a drive circuit even when the intake port is not disposed in proximity to the drive circuit. According to the invention, the interior of a housing comprises a compression mechanism (3) and an electric motor (4) for driving the compression mechanism (3); the electric motor (4) being configured having a stator (21) formed by winding a coil around a stator core (24) fixed in place inside the housing (2), and a rotor (22) fixedly mounted to a drive shaft (10) and rotatably disposed on the inner side of the stator (21). In a configuration for leading a fluid to be compressed to the compression mechanism (3) through an electric motor accommodating space (12a) in which the electric motor (4) is accommodated, a fluid inlet passage (31) extending along the axial direction of the drive shaft (10) is formed between the housing (2) and the stator core (24), and an intake port (30) for leading in the fluid to be compressed is provided to a location facing the external peripheral surface of the stator core (24) of the housing (2) and is connected to the fluid inlet passage (31).
