[Problem] To configure an electric compressor so that, even if force with which a housing holds a stator decreases at high temperatures, the movement of the stator is restricted, preventing the breakage of an electrical part such as a connector and also preventing the breakage of an insulating section such as a bobbin. [Abstract] An electric compressor is configured in such a manner that a compression mechanism (3) and an electric motor (4) which drives the compression mechanism (3) are provided within a housing (2), the electric motor (4) being provided with a stator (21) which is affixed within the housing (2) and also with a rotor (22) which is rotatably disposed on the inside of the stator (21) while being securely mounted to a drive shaft (10). The housing (2) is configured so as to comprise: a first housing member (electric motor-containing housing member (2a)), to the inside of which the stator (21) is affixed; and a second housing member (inverter-containing housing member (2b)) mounted to one axial end of the first housing member. A movement restriction section (boss section (33)) for restricting the axial movement of the stator (21) is provided to the second housing member.
