[Problem] To provide an electric contact, as well as a socket for an electric component, in which the plastic deformation of a spring part can be prevented. [Solution] Disclosed is an electric contact 60 that is configured such that a first contact part 71 and a second contact part 81 are extendable/contractible with respect to one another via a spring part 91. In the spring part 91, wave-shaped parts 92 form a wave shape by being alternately arranged continuously on one side and the other side of an axis L, which connects the first contact part 71 and the second contact part 81, about the axis L, and projections 93 of the wave-shaped parts 92 on the one side oppose respective recesses 94 between projections 93 of the wave-shaped parts 92 on the other side, to form the spring part 91 in a tubular shape. The projections 93 of the wave-shaped parts 92 on the one side enter the recesses 94 between the wave-shaped parts 92 on the other side, and thereby, at the time of contraction of the spring part 91, the projections 93 on the one side come into contact with the projections 93 adjacent to the recesses 94 of the wave-shaped parts 92 on the other side, and thus, the contraction movement is stopped and a conducting state between the projections 93 which are in contact with one another is established.
