Abstract:
An electric discharge machine which performs machining by applying a predetermined voltage while moving a workpiece (4) and an electrode (3) relatively comprises shaft type linear motors (13, 15) for driving a mechanical structure (10) in order to move the workpiece (4) and the electrode (3) relatively, a linear motor coil holder (14) for coupling the shaft type linear motors (13, 15) with the mechanical structure (10) and intercepting transmission of heat generated from the shaft type linear motors (13, 15) to the mechanical structure (10) by circulating cooling liquid internally, a pump (20) for supplying cooling water to the linear motor coil holder (14), and a unit cooler (21) for regulating the temperature of the cooling water supplied by the pump (20) to a predetermined temperature.
