Abstract:
There is provided an electric discharge surface treatment system for generating pulse-like discharge between a work and a molded electrode of metal powder, metal compound powder or ceramic powder, and forming a coating of the electrode material or a substance produced through reaction of the electrode material to the discharge energy on the surface of the work. The system comprises a main power supply (4) for supplying a current between the poles upon generation of discharge, an auxiliary power supply (8) for raising a no-load voltage applied between the electrode (1) and the pole of the work (2) before generation of discharge, a discharge detection means (12) for detecting generation of discharge by comparing the voltage between the poles with a discharge detection voltage which is set slightly lower than the voltage of the main power supply (4), and a discharge control means (11) for stopping application of voltage after elapse of a predetermined time when discharge is detected by the discharge detecting means (12), and terminating the discharge pulse.
