Abstract:
Disclosed is an electric double-layer capacitor which has a long service life, can work at a high voltage, and does not need a current collector that is to be arranged on the entire surface of a polarizing electrode and therefore is easy to reduce the size and weight thereof. Specifically disclosed is an electric double-layer capacitor comprising: first and second polarizing electrodes, each of which comprises a carbon nanotube assembly composed of an assembly of multiple carbon nanotubes and in each of which an electrolytic solution is immersed between the multiple carbon nanotubes; a separator which is arranged between the first and second polarizing electrodes; an electrode which is partially connected to the first and/or second polarizing electrode; and a barrier member which surrounds the first and second polarizing electrodes. The electric double-layer capacitor is characterized in that each of the polarizing electrodes has a electrical conductivity of 0.5 S/cm or more and therefore an electric charge flows in the horizontal direction and a vertical direction in the first and/or second polarizing electrode in the electrode toward the electrode.
