Abstract:
During normal operation, this electric drive device implements control such that the current supplied to windings becomes less than a normal-time current limit value determined from the heat-generation properties and the heat-dissipation properties of the windings and thermally coupled bodies including inverter circuits. When an abnormality in each phase or each group comprising a winding and an inverter circuit is detected, the supply of current to the phases of the windings of all the groups in which an abnormality has occurred or to the phases which are not capable of continuous operation is stopped or reduced, and the limit value for the current supplied to the windings capable of continuous operation is reset as an abnormal-time current limit value greater than the normal-time current limit value, so as to be within a range in which the heat-generation properties of the thermally coupled bodies are improved as a result of stopping or reducing the supply of current.
