Abstract:
Provided are an electric treatment method for diesel engine exhaust and a device using the method that resolve the problems with conventional diesel engine exhaust treatment technology using corona discharges, facilitating in particular the efficient removal of particulate matter (PM) and especially soluble organic fractions (SOF) from the exhaust of a diesel engine using low-quality fuel, the quality of which is less than or equal to that of fuel oil, as well as stable long-term performance. The electric treatment method for large-displacement diesel engine exhaust removes, with an electrical means, particulate matter mainly composed of insoluble organic fractions (IOF) and soluble organic fractions (SOF) from the exhaust of a diesel engine using low-quality fuel, the quality whereof being less than or equal to that of fuel oil. The particulate matter is removed with the electrical means after the temperature of the total exhaust containing the particulate matter is lowered by a gas cooling means to a temperature which is greater than or equal to 100°C, preferably greater than or equal to 130°C, and which is less than or equal to a temperature in which the ratio (R) of the exhaust temperature to the boiling point of fuel is 0.85.
