Description:
ELECTRIC GENERATOR POLE DEVICE

TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention refers to the technical field of electrical generators and it refers to an electrical generator pole device fit to convert the solar radiation and the wind energy into electric power and, for example, to use this energy for lighting.

PRIOR ART

The main drawbacks of the existing vertical axis wind turbines are that they have characteristics suitable to be large or have a reduced efficiency and, in case of absence of sufficient wind, for example during high pressure long periods, do not supply energy.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The objects of the present invention are to propose a device having good efficiency and made in different dimensional scales, fit to produce energy using sunlight even without wind.

Another object is to propose a device which is able to provide an efficient night illumination. Further objects are to propose a device able to connect to the electricity distribution network and to integrate control and data acquisition and distribution systems.

The electric generator pole device, in its preferred embodiment, provides a powered road light pole fit to produce electricity from mixed wind and solar sources.

The device can be equipped with a supervision system which, by wireless connection means, allows the remote control of the operation and of the environmental characteristics.

The same supervision system, by optional mains connection card, allows the device to introduce all the surplus energy available into the mains in order to obtain a financial resource. The pole device comprises the following functional elements: a pole means consisting of a metal support structure designed in truncate modules fit to support and to contain all the device functional elements, LED illuminating body, a solar panel, a vertical axis wind turbine connected to a three-phase generator and a pole means support base and to contain the electronic control system.

The metal support structure is optimized to ensure the support of the entire device system in security state for all wind conditions expected, the correct operation also in non perfect vertical alignment conditions and a high assembly easiness and mechanical maintenance of the various elements of the device.

The illuminating body comprises a head for illuminate the road using LED devices, specifically designed to produce a cone of controlled characteristics diffused light.

The use of the LED ensures an enormous energetic saving, with the same illumination, respect to the conventional light sources;

The lightening body contains furthermore a crepuscular sensor to switch on and off the illuminating body automatically. The photovoltaic panel is connected to a high-efficiency DC/DC converter contained in the base of the metal support structure and which allows, during the daytime, to charge substantial electric storage means in a rechargeable battery pack, which is also contained in the base of the metal support structure. The wind generator is rotor type with vertical modular axis, with offset blades to simulate the efficiency of helical blades, made in three modular elements connected between them by means of flexible couplers which guarantee the correct operation also in not-perfect vertical condition.

The three-phase electric generator, directly keyed on the lower end of the vertical axis rotor which is specifically designed to obtain the maximum efficiency of electric energy production at the rotation speed provided for various wind conditions.

The system, combined vertical axis rotor and three-phase electric generator, connected to the high-efficiency AC/DC converter contained in the base of the metal support structure, allows, in case of wind moderate intensity, to generate electric energy which can be used to recharge the batteries or to be transmitted into network.

The electronic control system comprises a long-life rechargeable batteries pack; high efficiency switching converters to transform the energy produced by the wind and solar sources into batteries pack energy charge by a AC-DC converter connected to the three phase electric generator and to a DC-DC converter connected to the solar panel.

The control system of the feeding of the enlightening body is activated by a crepuscular switch and is able to modulate the intensity of the light source according to the remaining battery charge.

The device further comprises:

an optional inverter card connecting the device to the public electrical network to pour in the network all the available exceeding energy when the batteries pack is full charged;

a control card is connected by CAN Bus to all the electronic modules and with eventual auxiliary elements such as for video surveillance, power supply of Wi-Fi repeaters, etc.;

a wireless ICT system allowing the remote connection with the control card to be- able to effect the remote control and the supervision in real time for all the device functions, operating parameters and eventually of the environmental conditions such as temperature, intensity of the solar radiation, wind speed, humidity, etc.; an optional RF interconnection system by Zig-Bee network for the creation of an interconnected devices network with the aim to form a "wind farm".

Furthermore, the device can be equipped with a swivel screen around a vertical axis and associated to the turbine rotor. Said screen is semi-cylindrical wall shaped with generating lines parallel respect to the rotation axis and it is equipped with an aerodynamic fin that orientates it in a way to shield the passive portion of the turbine from the wind so increasing the efficiency. The device can be made smaller if it aims to have only one self-powered pole or bigger for industrial applications. In the latter case, it can eliminate the illuminating body and put also bigger sizes of rotors on the roof of high buildings where the wind is almost available 365 days per year. PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION With reference to figures from 1 to 9, numeral 1 indicates the electric generator pole device, object of the present invention and comprising:

a pole means 3, designed to be placed almost vertically, whose lower end is equipped with a based means 2;

a set of electrical generator means 4 supported by the pole means 3;

an electromagnetic radiation source 5 fixed at the upper end of the pole means

3.

The electrical generator means 4 comprises at least one rotary electric generator 6 driven by a vertical axis turbine 7 and a photovoltaic panel 8 both of them are supported by the pole means 3. The electromagnetic radiation source 5 comprises a high efficiency light source 9, preferably LED based, and respective reflecting surfaces 10; the electromagnetic radiation source 5 could furthermore comprise eventual optional antennae for example for Wi-Fi broadcasting or in general radio broadcasting. The upper end of the pole means 3 supports a shelf means 1 1 protruding laterally from the pole means 3 and having upper and lower faces both comprising respectively the photovoltaic panel 8 and the light source 9.

The vertical axis turbine 7 comprises a rotor 12 constituted by a plurality of modules 13 each of them is made of two or more sectors 14, where each sector 14 comprising two blades 15, having approximately the semi-cylindrical shaped wall, with the respective concave faces partially opposed and oriented in opposed directions to form the respective sector 14 which thus assumes a configuration similar to a Savonius rotor whose operation is independent from the wind direction. Each sector 14 ends with discoid septums 16 fixed to the end of the blades 5.

The sectors 14 of each module 13 are offset by a respective preset angle of about 90° and the modules 13 are offset by a respective preset angle of about 30°. In this way, this rotor configuration exposes always to the wind an active part simulating the operation of a much more expensive helical blades rotor and allowing to supply an almost constant torque. The pole means 3 is lattice type made by a set of vertical uprights 17 in number of four, as shown in the figures, or preferably in number of three.

The vertical uprights 17 are mutually locked parallel each other, by a set of discoid flanged means 18. Said configuration allows to minimize the wind flow disturbance and to obtain a sufficient rigid support.

The vertical uprights 17 can be of tubular type and be subdivided in segments interposed between the flanged means 18 and fixed themselves by axial screw means.

The flanged means 18 are placed in the pole means 3 longitudinal positions more or less corresponding to the ends of the modules 13. The discoid septums 16 at the ends of each rotor module 13 are equipped with a connecting coupler 19 to the adjacent module 13 or, if modules are lower and higher than the rotary electric generator 6 or than the flanged means 18 of the upper ends of the pole mean 3. Each coupler 19 is equipped with a central shaft 20 supported, by a bearing 21 , by a pair of parallel and discoid plates 22, tightly in an adjustable manner, to the edges of a central hole 23 of the respective flanged means 18.

The ends of the central shafts can be equipped with screw threads or preferably with nut screws to fix the discoid septums 16 by nuts or preferably screws 40.

The diameter of the coupler 19 middle portion is smaller than the diameter of the central hole for adjusting the transverse position of the coupler 9 with respect to the corresponding flanged means

The adjustable clamping plates allow to align the rotor even in case of imprecise execution or installation of the lattice support and the articulated coupler allow the rotor to adapt itself to stress of the lattice support.

The rotating electric generator 6 is three-phase type and is directly keyed and driven by the vertical axis turbine 7. The device comprises an electrical circuit to convert alternating current to direct current and to control connected to the power output of the rotating electric generator 6 and to the electric accumulator means of the device to recharge them.

A separate or an integrated circuit in the electric circuit to convert alternating current to direct current and to control connects the photovoltaic panel 8 to the electric accumulator means to recharge them.

The electric accumulator means are intended to supply, by a control electric circuit, at least the electromagnetic radiation source 5 and optional further electronic or electrical components of the device 1.

The based means 2 is without movable parts accessible from outside and has a height sufficient to prevent the risk of rotor collision with people and animals. The based means 2 has an upper container cylindrical shaped containing at least the rotating electric generator 6 and a lower container, also cylindrical shaped, containing such as the batteries of the electric accumulator means. Said containers can be integral or interconnected by vertical uprights as shown in the figures. Optionally the device can comprise an electric circuit to connect the rotating electric generator 6 and/or of the photovoltaic panel 8 and/or of the electric accumulator means to the electricity distribution network to introduce therein the excess power produced by the device 1

The controlling electric circuit for supplying power to the LED light source 9 comprises a crepuscular switch and an optional brightness intensity regulator according to the at least remaining charge of the electric accumulator means.

Optionally the device can comprise a supervision system equipped with device status detectors and/or of environmental sensors that, by wireless or conveyor connection, allows the remote controlling the operation of the device 1 and/or of the environmental conditions and eventually the remote control of the device.

The device operativeness provides that the batteries of the electric accumulator means are recharged thanks to the solar energy and wind energy to provide the night lighting of the street or of the places where the device is installed.

An advantage of the present invention is to propose a device having good efficiency and feasible in different dimensional scales, which is able to produce energy using of sunlight even in the absence of wind. Other advantage is to provide a device which is able to provide an efficient night illumination.

Further advantages are to provide a device which is able to connect to the mains and to integrate itself into the control and data acquisition and distribution system.
