Abstract:
The invention relates to an interruption switch, in particular for interrupting high currents at high voltages, comprising a housing encasing a contact unit which defines the current path through the interruption switch and which has a first and second terminal contact and a separation region, the contact unit being designed such that current can be supplied thereto via the first terminal contact and can be discharged therefrom via the second terminal contact, or vice versa, the separation region being designed such that, upon said region being separated, the current path between the first terminal contact and the second terminal contact is interrupted, the separation region being arranged inside a reaction chamber, characterised in that a coating having a reactive material is present in the reaction chamber, the reactive material being designed such that it damps or extinguishes the electric arc under the influence of an electric arc.
