Abstract:
Provided are an electric linear motion actuator and an electric brake device that can perform stable control by appropriately switching between position control and load control and that can realize a reduction in cost. A control device (2) of this electric linear motion actuator (DA) comprises: a load estimating function unit (20); a position estimating function unit (21); a load control function unit (22); a position control function unit (23); and a control switching function unit (24). The control switching function unit (24) switches from the position control function unit (23) to the load control function unit (22) in the case where the position control function unit (23) has been switched to, a load is exerted from a no-load state, and the estimated load exceeds a first threshold. The control switching function unit (24) switches from the load control function unit (22) to the position control function unit (23) in the case where the load control function unit (22) has been switched to, the load is made to decrease or go to zero, and the load is below a second threshold that is larger than the first threshold.
