The invention relates to an electric machine, especially a three-phase alternator for motor vehicles, and to a method for producing such an electric machine. Said electric machine is provided with a pole rotor (12) whose pole core (21) is disposed between two pole plates (24, 25) on a rotor shaft (17) and carries a field coil (23) concentrically disposed relative thereto. Said field coil is mounted on a coil support (22) and is fixed on the pole core and the pole plates together with the coil support. The aim of the invention is to simplify production of such a machine and to reduce the amount of impregnating resin required. For this purpose, the coil support (22) and the field coil (23) are interlinked by means of a resin (34) to give a prefabricated structural component (35) and are fixed on the pole core (21) by a preferably non-positive connection (37).
