Abstract:
The present invention is an electric motor drive device 100 which drives an electric motor 4 by using AC power converted from a DC power source 1, said electric motor drive device 100 being provided with: an inverter 5 that receives a pulse width modulation signal and supplies AC power to the electric motor 4; and an inverter control unit 8 that generates a pulse width modulation signal and supplies said signal to the inverter 5. The inverter control unit 8 reduces the pulse number of the pulse width modulation signal generated in a first interval of one cycle of a mechanical angle of the electric motor 4 to a level lower than the pulse number of the pulse width modulation signal generated in a second interval of one cycle of the mechanical angle of the electric motor 4. The first interval is an interval which has a load torque that is lower than the load torque of the second interval.
