Abstract:

An electric motor (1) with an embedded permanent magnet has slits (25) and flux barriers (23). Extended sections (11b) are included in hole-defining sections of magnet insertion holes. The extended sections each overhang toward an inter-electrode core section (11c) in a rotor core (11), at a location positioned further outside, in the peripheral direction, than an end face of the permanent magnet (13) in the width direction. If the distance between the slits and outer periphery of the core, the distance between the slits and the surface of the permanent magnet on the outer peripheral side, the shortest distance between the extended sections and the inter-electrode core sections, and the thickness of the permanent magnet are defined as La, Lb, Lc, and Ld, respectively, Lb is greater than La, and Lc is less than Ld.
