Title:
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/158941
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The current background is that it is mandatory to miniaturize electric power steering apparatuses due to recent demands for environmental measures and cost reduction. Furthermore, there is a demand for synthetic resin worm wheels such that the occurrence of abnormal sound is prevented and that durability is improved. This is because in the case of large vehicles, steering assist force becomes large, and particularly because dimensional changes become large due to creep and wear. Consequently, disclosed is an electric power steering apparatus wherein rotation of an electric actuator (8) for generating steering assist force is transmitted to wheels via a speed reduction gear mechanism comprising a metal worm (9), and a synthetic resin worm wheel (10) that engages with this metal worm (9). The worm wheel (10) is a resin molding wherein 10 - 30 weight percent fiber-reinforced material is contained in polyamide resin with a melt viscosity of 500 - 4,000 Pa‧s, and wherein the modulus of elasticity in a 120OC atmosphere is 1,600 MPa or more.
