Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an electric power steering apparatus that is capable of suppressing, in a motor control conducted through two systems, the deterioration of steering feeling when an abnormality occurs in one of the systems, by changing the current command value of the normally operating system. [Solution] This electric power steering apparatus, which calculates a current command value for each system unit for a motor having two-system motor winding wires, is provided with a current command value adjustment unit that calculates a current command value by using a steering assist command value and a compensation current command value. The current command value adjustment unit has a normal-operation coefficient used during normal operation and an abnormal-operation coefficient used when an abnormality occurs in the operation, which coefficients are set for each system. When the two systems are operating normally, a value obtained by multiplying the normal-operation coefficient with the sum of the steering assist command value and the compensation current command value is set as the current command value. When an abnormality occurs in any one of the systems, a value obtained by adding the compensation current command value to the product of the steering assist command value and the abnormal-operation coefficient is set as the current command value of the normally operating system.
