Abstract:

An electric power steering device provided with a steering torque detection means for detecting steering torque, and a motor for applying assist torque to a steering shaft on the basis of the detected steering torque, wherein for the purpose of estimating road surface reaction force torque from which the influence of motor inertia torque is eliminated without using rotational angle information and rotational angular speed information relating to a motor, the value corresponding to the rotational speed of the steering shaft is calculated on the basis of the steering torque and the assist torque, and the road surface reaction force torque is calculated on the basis of the value corresponding to the rotational speed of the steering shaft.
