Abstract:
Provided is an electric power steering device in which an emergency motor control unit controls the drive of a motor in place of a normal motor control unit when a current sensor is faulty. The emergency motor control unit detects the timing at which motor current (I) reaches zero when all switching elements are OFF (S11 - S13). An ON period (T0) corresponding to the timing at which the motor current (I) reaches zero and steering torque (|tr|) is set (S14 - S15), and the switching elements corresponding to the direction of the steering torque are turned ON for the ON period (T0) only (S17 - S20). As a result, an average current (Iavg) corresponding to the steering torque (|tr|) flows to the motor (20), and a reduction in steering assist tracking is suppressed.
