Abstract:

When there has been a steering wheel manipulation (steering) intervention by a driver during automatic driving of a vehicle, the present invention sufficiently reflects the intervening manipulation, and simultaneously reduces an uncomfortable or unpleasant feeling that the driver has ever felt during the manipulation intervention. An ECU of this electric power steering device has: a steering angle control unit 200 which receives a steering command value as an input and controls a steering angle during steering; an assist control unit 147 which receives an assist map gradual-change gain as an input and outputs an assist control output gradual-change gain; and a switching-determination/gradual-change gain generating unit 145 which generates a gradual-change gain multiplied with a steering angle control output and an assist control output, multiplies the gradual-change gain, and thereby determines switching between a steering control mode which is carried out by the steering angle control unit 200 and an assist control mode which is carried out by the assist control unit 147. The steering angle control unit 200 has: a position control unit 208; a steering speed control unit 212; and a combination means 220 for steering intervention correction and controlling steering wheel vibration.
