Abstract:
[Problem] To achieve a structure of an electric power steering device with which a size reduction can be attained for a housing in an assist mechanism and an increase mountability to a vehicle can be attained. [Solution] A housing 7 has a pinion accommodation section 16 that accommodates at least a tip half 73 of a pinion shaft 13 and a gear housing section 17 that accommodates each of a worm wheel 50 and a worm shaft 51, the gear housing section 17 is formed separately from the pinion accommodation section 16 and is secured to the pinion accommodation section 16, the pinion shaft 13 is supported by bearings 21, 22 so as to be free to rotate relative to the pinion accommodation section 16 without being supported so as to be free to rotate relative to the gear housing section 17, and the worm shaft 51 is supported so as to be free to rotate relative to the gear housing section 17.
