Abstract:
An electric power steering system (1) uses a brushless motor (3) as a driving source. The brushless motor (3) has a stator (13) in which a stator coil (17) is wound in a distributed winding manner and a rotor (14) rotatably disposed inside the stator (13). Four sets of slit groups (31) each comprising arc-shaped slits (31a to 31c) are formed in the rotor (14). Rotor magnets (32) comprising a bond magnet are formed by being filled into the slits (31a to 31c). The rotor magnets (32) are polar-anisotropically magnetized. The rotor (14) is rotated by a magnetic torque generated by the rotor magnets (32) and a reluctance torque based on the inductance difference between magnetic paths and supplies a steering assist force.
