Abstract:
An electric steering device drive apparatus (10) rotationally drives a rudder (101) mounted on a ship body (100). The electric steering device drive apparatus includes: an electric motor (12); a speed reducer (13) that decelerates rotational power output from the electric motor for output via an output shaft (25); and a drive gear (17) mounted on the output shaft. The drive gear is intermeshed with a driven gear (104) of which a rotation center is positioned on a rotating axis (L1) of the rudder. The electric steering device drive apparatus further includes a retraction mechanism (60) for releasing the meshing between the drive gear and the driven gear.
