Abstract:
The electric toothbrush has a brush head that comprises: a bristle portion for brushing teeth; and a handle portion that holds the brush head. The brush head comprises: an outer shell portion; an inner shell portion; a first metal body; and a second metal body. The outer shell portion is mounted detachably onto the handle portion. The inner shell portion is disposed on the inner side of the outer shell portion. The first metal body is held in the outer shell portion. The second metal body is held in the inner shell portion and comes into contact with the first metal body. The handle portion comprises a drive portion for vibrating the inner shell portion. The inner shell portion is connected to the drive portion when the outer shell portion is mounted onto the handle portion. At least either the first metal body or the second metal body contains a metal-based substance that generates hydrogen by a chemical reaction with water.
