Abstract:
The invention relates to a pumped-storage power plant, in particular an electric unit (1) comprising a frequency converter (3) and a rotating electric synchronous machine (4), said machine being provided in a cavern (5). The frequency converter (3) comprises at least two elements (6, 7) which can be used as inverters or as rectifiers according to the operating mode of the machine, for example during the operation of the motor or during the operation of the generator. The machine-side element (6) is provided within the cavern (5), and the network-side element (7) is provided outside of the cavern (5).
