Abstract:

Provided is an electric vacuum cleaner having improved obstacle detection accuracy. The electric vacuum cleaner (11) comprises a main body case, driving wheels, a control means (27), cameras (51a) and (51b), an image generating unit (63) and a determining unit (64). The driving wheels make it possible for the main body case to travel. The control means (27) causes the main body case to travel autonomously, by controlling the driving of the driving wheels. The cameras (51a) and (51b) are disposed separated from one another in the main body case, and capture images in the direction of travel of the main body case. The image generating unit (63) generates a distance image of an object located on the side in the direction of travel, on the basis of images captured by the cameras (51a) and (51b). The determining unit (64) determines whether the imaged object is an obstacle, on the basis of the distance image generated by the image generating unit (63).
