Abstract:
An electric vacuum cleaner (11) is provided which shortens cleaning time and can efficiently clean in accordance with a cleaning area. This electric vacuum cleaner (11) comprises a main body case, drive wheels, a cleaning unit (22), an extraction means (77), and a control means (27). The drive wheels render the main body case capable of travel. The cleaning unit (22) cleans a floor surface. The extraction means (77) extracts feature points in the periphery of the main body case. The control means (27) enables the main body case to travel autonomously by controlling driving of the drive wheels. At the start of cleaning, the control means (27) specifies a current cleaning area by comparing feature points extracted by the extraction means (77) and pre-stored feature points corresponding to the cleaning area.
