Abstract:
Provided is an electric vacuum cleaner capable of achieving reliable autonomous travel while reducing an image processing load. This electric vacuum cleaner (11) has a body case, a driving wheel, a control unit (26), a camera (51), a self-position estimation unit (65), an obstacle detection unit (64), and a mapping unit (66). The camera (51) captures an image of the traveling-direction side of the body case. The self-position estimation unit (65) estimates the position of the body case on the basis of the image captured by the camera (51). The obstacle detection unit (64) detects an obstacle on the basis of the image captured by the camera (51). The timing for performing either a process performed by the self-position estimation unit (65) or a process performed by the obstacle detection unit (64) during the travel of the body case, and the timing for performing both the processes simultaneously during the travel of the body case are set.
